Passengers must arrive at the airport early enough to complete all formalities. The time indicated on the flight coupon is the departure time of the aircraft. Flights cannot be held for passengers who are late, and airBaltic holds no responsibility in such cases, therefore please find the check-in deadline for your departure airport below.
Check-in for connecting flights
airBaltic performs check-in to the final destination for all airBaltic operated connecting flights, e.g. a passenger can check-in from Helsinki to Paris when flying via Riga and for most of the connecting flights where the second flight is operated by another airline.
If your flight departs from Riga airport, you are most welcome to use the Twilight check-in service – letting you check-in for your flight and drop off your luggage from 7pm to 10pm on the day before your scheduled departure. This allows you to go directly to security control and on to your departure gate on the day of departure. Please take into account that there may be lines at security control, so we recommend arriving at the airport early enough, so you can be at the boarding gate at least 25 minutes before your flight departure.
If your flight departs from Riga airport, you can print your boarding pass at one of the self-check-in kiosks located in the departure hall. A self-check-in kiosk is easy to use and it takes approximately 1.5 minutes to check in.
At the self-check-in kiosk, choose the language you prefer (English, Latvian, Lithuanian, Russian and German) and follow the instructions. You will have to enter your booking reference and family name, mark passengers you want to be checked in for the flight and wait for your boarding pass to be printed out. Printing out your boarding pass is an essential process, for you will have to present it, when dropping off your baggage, at the security control and when boarding the plane. Use of the baggage drop-off counter is free of charge.
The check-in deadline when using a self-check-in kiosk corresponds with the check-in deadline of your flight, which in Riga airport is 40 minutes for Economy class passengers and 30 minutes for Business class passengers. Please note that if you have baggage to drop off, you need to arrive at the airport even earlier, because the deadlines for baggage drop-off are also 40 minutes for Economy class passengers and 30 minutes for Business class passengers. Please also take into account that there may be lines by the baggage drop-off points, therefore we recommend arriving at the airport at least 2 hours before your flight departure.
Self service check-in is available for all airBaltic passengers with the exception of the passenger categories mentioned below:
- passengers travelling to countries that require passenger passport data to be provided by the airline before departure (United Kingdom);
- passengers with reduced mobility;
- passengers travelling with pets;
- passengers in possession of special seamen tickets;
- passengers on charter flights;
- passengers using the unaccompanied minor service;
- passengers transporting a cello;
- passengers who have booked an extra seat;
- passengers who have booked medical assistance;
- passengers with identical name and surname in one booking.
Special security procedures at Tel Aviv airport
If you depart from Tel Aviv we strongly advise you to arrive at the airport at least 3 hours before your flight. There are special security procedures in Tel Aviv airport. Even before you reach the check-in desks you have to go through baggage scan, passenger questioning and full inspection of all of your items. This may take up to 2 hours, and there is another security control point after check-in before you reach your boarding gate.
